Julian Barnes, "Complicity"

Just read Julian Barnes's story "Complicity." Written in 1st person point-of-view, the story starts with the main character as a "hiccupping boy," then a twenty-year old with a skin condition, until as a divorced lawyer he meets a female doctor with a circulation condition. Barnes somehow combines perception, complicity, fear, danger, heartbreak, and yearning into a wonderful story.

This story is in the current The New Yorker magazine.
This photo will makes sense after you read the story. I loved seeing these gloves positioned just like this on the wall in Central Park.
