Today attended the panel discussion at the Kimbell Art Museum with filmmaker Philip Haas, A.S. Byatt and the Kimbell deputy director, Malcolm Warner. They discussed art in film and film as art.
The Kimbell commissioned Haas to create 5 films that work as interpretations of the artworks. They bring the pieces "to life" through film and in doing so, interpret or explain the pieces. The films are shown amongst the artworks that inspired them.
A.S. Byatt's book, Angels and Insects was made into a film in the late 1990s by Philip Haas.
Also, today, I re-read a short story by Byatt, "The Thing in the Forest."
Still taking a break from "Woodie Hart."
