Danila Davydov, "The Telescope"

"The Telescope" at only about 7 pages tells of a man surviving a bus explosion while on an excursion to the countryside to look at the stars through his telescope. The story moves between reality and hallucinations and shock and the reader is never completely sure what is real and what is a translated reality through shock and Ippelman's new blind interpretations of what is happening to him.

The story was translated from Russian by Arch Tait and is included in the anthology, Best European Fiction, 2012.
