Judd McDonald, "Chimayo"

Told in a very close third-person point of view, Sylvia has to have a third surgery on her intestines. She's tried several alternative methods and one of them is that she walks twenty-six miles to El Santuario de Chimayo after she'd read about it in Sun magazine. At this small chapel the story is that the earth, dirt of the floor of the church is sacred and can produce miracles.

"Chimayo" was published in the spring 2010 issue of Red Rock Review.
