Alissa Nutting, "The Transparency Project"

Another story from Watchlist: 32 Stories by Persons of Interest tells of a woman who has had a transparent shield, like a window, inserted into her abdomen so that her internal organs may be monitored. Needless to say, complications arise, not so much medically but the monitoring of something that is not supposed to be seen. It also explores the type of person who would agree to this in exchange for a stable income. "There were many things in life that Cora found difficult, like choosing which scent and brand of dishwashing soap to purchase."
